Ist Call: IEEE 2019 Volunteer Opportunities & Officer Ballot San Diego, Nominations due 5:00 PM, Sunday November 18
Dear members of the IEEE San Diego Section,
It is time to kick off the election of the 2019 section officers.
We are at the beginning of a process to see who's interested in running for office or continuing in the same office.
Please find the list of officer positions toward the end of this email.
If you are interested in running for one of our officer positions for next year or would just like to help one of our IEEE societies in planning its activities, please fill out the survey below.
The present officers have already been polled on their willingness to continue to serve in their current position.
If they've responded to that, they needn't fill out this survey.
Some of the advantages of serving a local society as chair or committee member, are opportunities to meet others in your field, including expert speakers, learning about different aspects of your field, and trying out your ideas for events. There will also be training for the new officers to help them get started.
IEEE promotes competitive elections. Thus more than one candidate is desired.
If you, or someone you know, would be interested in participating in/and volunteering to serve, please examine the list of officer positions, below, and reply to nomination committee by e-mail at
firstname.lastname@example.org and email@example.com
by 5:00 PM, Sunday, November 18. Late responses will be still considered if possible.
For the ballot, a brief bio will be required and if so inclined, a brief position statement. Self-nominations are perfectly acceptable.
To learn the roles and responsibilities of the various offices, see the bottom of this e-mail, or contact any of the current volunteers whose e-mail addresses can be found at www.sdieee.org under section information.
There are several important things to note.
One is that committee chair positions are appointed and not elected, thus they are not listed here. The other is that the Electronics Communications chair position is also appointed. Lastly the student branch chairs are elected at individual student branches and are not handled at the section election.
Notice: You must be a San Diego section IEEE member to run for office. In addition, in order to run for chapter chair of one of our societies, you must be a member of that society. If you would like to become a member of a society you can join at any time. If you join at this time of year, you would get membership in that society starting immediately and running through the end of next year for the one year price.
