Speaker Patrick Twohig
Topic Info

Monday June 11, 2018

IEEE Consultants’ Network of San Diego

Topic: DevOps: CloudFormation vs Terraform. Which one is right for you?
Speaker: Patrick Twohig

Managing cloud infrastructure is both a vital and challenging part of running any modern application. Furthermore, effective automated management is an essential part of managing cloud infrastructure. To this end, several solutions have emerged providing companies with the tools and resources necessary to streamline development, operations, and deployment.

For companies wishing to migrate traditional infrastructure to AWS or those looking to improve on existing processes, this presentation covers the basics of both CloudFormation and Hashicorp Terraform. In addition to covering the basic principles of Infrastructure as Code we compare, contrast, and explore the Amazon “House Brand” (Cloud Formation), and the “aftermarket” supplied solution (Terraform).
