Electronic Nicotine Delivery Systems - Common Failure Modes
on January 9, 2018 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM
Dr. Eddie Forouzan of ARTIN Engineering
Nicotine Delivery Systems (ENDS) have become very popular in recent years. They
are an alternative to other means of nicotine delivery to the body such as
cigarettes and pipes.
for cost savings purposes, some ENDS manufacturers are opting to use low
quality cells and batteries which have caused multiple incidents of bodily harm
and property damage. Sometimes the actual delivery system is designed and
manufactured by local shops without even taking the most rudimentary lithium
ion safety parameters into consideration.
recent years, the Federal Government has decided to bring ENDS under the
jurisdiction of the FDA. This presentation discuses some of the those failure
modes and provides suggestions to remedy some the common failure modes.
